Flint Man With Four Prior Felonies Spared 20 Years Incarceration After Manufacturing Drugs Charge
Jan 13, 2016, by Case Results, Criminal Defense, Drug Crimes inJust recently, a 24-year-old man from Flint, Michigan was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. Both 20-year felonies, the man began to grow more and more concerned as he had four prior felonies, two of which were for the same charge he was currently facing. Determined to see no time behind bars with a 2-year-old at home, he consulted with Michigan criminal defense attorney Maurice Davis to see how he could alleviate the situation.
Our client, a laborer, was also on probation in Oakland County at the time of his offense. Davis knew it would be difficult to convince the judge he was a good candidate for probation after committing this crime while on a current probation term. Attorney Davis advocated on behalf of his client and was able to diffuse the situation by negotiating for a misdemeanor simple possession charge. The man was not sentenced to any jail time and walked out with only a $1,000 fine.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
