High School Student Sees Drastic Reduction for Leaving the Scene of An Accident
Mar 29, 2017, by Case Results, Criminal Defense, Traffic inEveryone makes foolish mistakes when they are young, but it is very important that they do not rise to the level of criminal charges. Since a criminal record follows a person and can be a significant limitation, if a young person gets involved in a difficult legal situation it is critical to consult a knowledgeable criminal defense lawyer. For example, a 17-year-old man was out driving with some friends and made the foolish decision to egg some cars. When one of the car owners tried to confront them, the young man tried to allude this person and ultimately crashed into a stop sign. All the occupants decided to flee, but since the young man was the driver, he was promptly contacted by police and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which is punishable by up to 90-days in jail and the creation of a permanent criminal record.
With his whole future, ahead of him and a desire to attend college, the young man and his family wanted to find the best possible outcome and retained Davis Law Group. By using his considerable experience with all types of juveniles matters throughout Michigan, attorney Maurice Davis took the case and began representing his client’s interests. In the end, attorney Davis negotiated with the prosecution and achieved a drastic reduction to a civil infraction rather than a criminal offense. Since he avoided a criminal conviction, his young client would now be able to accurately present a clear criminal record on any job or college application.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
